Close to the Land: Images of rural China by Charlotte Temple
This photography exhibit of 24 images is open regular hours except during special events in the Visitor Center.
In her photography, Charlotte Temple aims to document communities living as close to the land as they had a thousand years before, as well as the changes that have marked them. Fascinated by the beauty and contradictions of the country, she began this project thirty years ago and continues this work today.
Morris Arboretum’s modern plant exploration and research efforts in China cover a similar period of time. Our work studying plants and preserving diversity complements Charlotte’s goals for her project. Charlotte became a friend of Morris Arboretum after joining an Arboretum tour in 1995.
